Saturday, May 4, the Academy of Dance Arts is proudly presenting A Galactic Journey: productions that include Cosmic Confetti (an early childhood dance matinee), Firebird (a classical ballet), and Stella-Rella (an intergalactic twist on Cinderella). These performances will encompass a dynamic mix of original choreography including classical ballet and pointe, modern, tap, jazz, hip hop and contemporary, created by the Academy’s teaching artists.

The “Cosmic Confetti” 11am matinee features young stars who celebrate a galaxy of characters from sunbeams and rocketships to comets and quirky extraterrestrials. Our Academy Company dancers will also be joining this performance with their sparkling student choreography.

The 5pm Production includes two enchanting stories. Firebird, the first adventure, follows the magical journey of Princess Ivana through an enchanted forest where she discovers a rare treasure: a Firebird on her nest of golden eggs…but one of them is stolen! Princess Ivana must be brave and find a way to hunt down the missing baby Firebird with a magical feather to light her way.

The second story, Stella-Rella, is an interstellar twist on the classic Cinderella fairy tale. Instead of a glass slipper, this princess’s galactic godmother brings her a cosmic compass that sends her to the ball on Saturn after her awful stepmother and sisters prevent her from attending. With no prince charming to save the day, Stella-Rella must rescue herself and her family from a fiery meteor shower.
